International Master Courses for Cello
For the past 10 years, these master courses have been a recurring important cultural event for the small town of Rheineck, situated in the eastern-most corner of Switzerland on the border to Austria and connected to Germany by the Lake of Constance. Many young and older students as well as proven musicians from Hungary, Japan, England, China, Lithuania, Germany, Slovenia, Poland, the United States and Switzerland meet here to pursue a common goal: the study and mastery of cello works ranging from J. S. Bach to various modern composers. The universal language of music replaces missing words and unifies nations and generations. Prof. Csaba Onczay from Budapest provides solid artistic direction, and together with the sensitive accompaniment by Prof. Zsuzsanna Homor, Budapest, the course brings forth musical masterpieces that are enjoyed by a large enthusiastic cello audience at the traditional final concert.
The optimal accommodations – originally in the Custerhof, now in the Marienburg in Thal/Rheineck – not only facilitate musical experience and learning, but also foster the contact and fellowship between the participants from different countries, and even continents.
Included in the program are accompanied excursions to the surrounding area, letting the students not only experience musical, but also cultural and historical values to take back with them to their home countries.
